Hey y’all, Megan here! Is the Luxen Army out there, because I was able to snatch an interview with the one in charge, JENNIFER ARMENTROUT!
I know, I know, I can’t stop fangirling over here! If you’ve seen my Facebook, you will gain a small insight to how epic this interview was for me, I still can’t believe it!

For those of you who don’t know Jennifer Armentrout, I highly recommend that you drop everything you’re doing and go out and buy all of her books. Well, after reading this article, re blogging it, and telling all of your friends of course!
Jennifer Armentrout is the author of the Lux series: Shadows (a prequel), Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, and Origin (which will be coming out August 27th 2013); and theCovenant series: Daimon (a prequel to Half-Blood), Half Blood, Pure (book 2), Deity (book 3), Elixir (book 3.5), Apollyon (book 4), and Sentinel (book 5, the last book in the series to be released November 2nd 2013). Jennifer has also written three individual books:CursedObsession (which is a digital copy only), and Don’t Look Back (release date isn’t out yet, but it’s expected to be in the Spring of 2014).

iFandoms Collide interview with Jennifer Armentrout:

iFandoms Collide: What inspires you to write your stories? Where do you get your ideas?
Jennifer Armentrout: I think that I’m always subconsciously looking for ideas and inspiration in everything. I don’t usually sit down with the intent of coming up with an idea for a book. The ideas just usually pop into my head out of nowhere when I’m doing something unrelated like grocery shopping or taking a shower.

iFandoms Collide: Did you always want to be a writer, or did you have other career aspirations?
Jennifer Armentrout: Yes, I’ve always wanted to be a writer, but I do have a degree in psychology because I find it fascinating.

iFandoms Collide: What are some of your favorite books and authors to read? What is your favorite quote?
Jennifer Armentrout: I have so many favorites that I really can’t choose just one. I’ve been reading a lot of historical romances lately, though. Favorite quote? “Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman”–Unknown

iFandoms Collide: What is your favorite part about being an author?
Jennifer Armentrout: Besides getting to write all day, which is what I’ve always wanted to be doing, it’s the fact that I get to work from home and make my own schedule. I write every day, even on holidays, but I do enjoy the flexibility of writing when it works for me during the day.

iFandoms Collide: What is your advice to aspiring authors?
Jennifer Armentrout: I always give the same advice. You should write what you want to write, not what you need to write.

iFandoms Collide: What is the most difficult part about writing? What do you do when you get writer’s block?
Jennifer Armentrout: Fortunately, I’ve never really gotten writer’s block, but there are some days when it’s more difficult to throw myself into my writing. But, I keep writing even when the words aren’t coming quite as easily because that’s the best way for me to work through it.

iFandoms Collide: What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview, and how would you answer that question?
Jennifer Armentrout: There really isn’t any specific question that I’ve always wanted to be asked. I’ve been asked a very broad range of questions in interviews.

iFandoms Collide: What are your favorite scenes to write?
Jennifer Armentrout: I like writing the scenes that have a lot of bantering back and forth. Oh, and the kissing scenes. Can’t forget about the kissing.

iFandoms Collide: Daemon Black is a fictional crush for those of us with eyes, Who is your fictional crush?
Jennifer Armentrout: That’s a tough question. I have a lot of fictional crushes, but I do love Tod from the Soul Screamers series.

DAEMON teaser

iFandoms Collide: Is there anything you can reveal about Origin?
Jennifer Armentrout: Origin is written in dual POV, so it alternates between Daemon and Katy. This makes the book very different from the first books in the Lux series, but I think that readers will enjoy getting an inside look at Daemon.

A couple questions from fans:

Michelé Jones says about the Lux series: I was wondering why you chose to express the sex scenes the way you did. I liked how you didn’t just out right say what they were doing, but you were able to show it with your words.
Jennifer Armentrout: The Lux series is YA, so the more explicit sex scenes that I write in my NA and adult books aren’t appropriate for that genre. That being said, I still think that tastefully written sex scenes can have a place in YA novels in the right context. I knew that Katy and Daemon were at a place in their relationship that they would have sex, but I didn’t feel like I needed to give explicit details.

Anonymous says about the Lux series: Was it important that your main character be a big reader, or did you do that just for fun?
Jennifer Armentrout: I really did it just for fun. When I got the idea for Katy, I pictured her as an avid reader and blogger. I thought it added something to her personality.

Jennifer Armentrout: Thanks for asking me to do the interview.

THANK YOU Jennifer for giving us this interview!!!!!
